We met in 2017 while working a harvest internship in Sonoma County, California. Bobby was too cool to hangout with all the interns but finally agreed when offered a full day of wine tasting with a small group. Caitlin was in attendance. We had fun banter but sparks weren't necessarily flying. While we continued to work long days and nights during harvest, we didn't have much time to get to know each other. That is until near the end of harvest, we both got off work at a reasonable hour to decided to meet up for drinks. After that, things took off quickly. Then, the Tubbs wildfire brought us closer together after Bobby was evacuated from his home, allowing us to spend a lot of time together. Fast forward seven years later, Bobby popped the question!
We were in the heart of the Mosel, a wine region in Germany known for its picturesque landscape and quality Riesling. After walking through town, Bobby persuaded Caitlin to embark on a steep and challenging hike, promising a reward of the most iconic view of the winding river and terraced vineyards below. The only problem was the weather, intermittently raining and hailing the entire way. Because this was a spur of the moment decision, neither of us were wearing the appropriate clothing and rocky parts of the trail were quite slippery. We pressed on to the top where after a few minutes of catching our breath, Bobby suggested to set up the phone for a photo but surprised Caitlin by getting down on one knee.
